Community union members at Wybone bin factory in Barnsley staged their fourth strike on Friday of last week.
They armed themselves with their “designer” T-shirts with the message, “Better skint than a scab!”
All the strikers turned out on the picket line again. One of them said, “The spirit is great. I was a miner in 1984 and this reminds me of how we helped each other back then.”
Union members have voted to strike for a week from Monday of next week.
This will hit production planned for the waste management show in Torquay the following week – where Wybone was to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
Strikers are asking other workers to join their picket with trade union banners on Friday of next week or send messages of support.
Local college lecturers brought a collection to last week’s picket line.
Send messages of support, or information about use of Wybone products, to Wybone Community union Branch c/o Phoenix House, Flash Lane, Bramley, Rotherham S66 1TS or email cgriffiths@community-tu.org
