The Ucatt union has to rerun its 2009 leadership race.
The Certification Officer ruled the election should be treated as “void and of no effect” and Alan Ritchie “shall cease forthwith to hold office as general secretary.”
The case was taken by left wing candidate Mick Dooley who lost the leadership race by 6,706 votes to 4,431.
But less than 50 percent of Ucatt’s claimed 130,000 members got ballot papers.
