Sacked Merseyside firefighter Kevin Hughes has won an employment tribunal—but has yet to be reinstated.
Firefighters in the FBU union almost struck over his sacking. But this did not happen after management agreed that they would respect any tribunal decision.
Chief fire officer Tony McGuirk said reinstating Kevin Hughes was “not possible”.
Merseyside FBU secretary Les Skarratts said, “Given the unanimous decision of the tribunal… we’d expect the fire authority to immediately reinstate.”
Meanwhile, firefighters protested against equipment cuts outside Stroud fire station last Saturday.
