FBU social for suspended union rep Sian Griffiths

London firefighters came together to support their suspended colleague Sian Griffiths on Wednesday of last week.

The FBU union members gathered in Walthamstow, east London, to back her bid for reinstatement.

Comedian Mark Thomas performed, as did a band and socialist magician Ian Saville.

The event raised £4,500 for the union’s hardship fund.

Griffiths was suspended during the firefighters’ strikes last year, which have since been settled.

She is currently awaiting a disciplinary hearing, while also taking bosses to an employment tribunal.
