Attempts by English Defence League (EDL) thugs to rampage through Dewsbury last Saturday failed.
Up to 200 activists from Unite Against Fascism (UAF) came together with people from the Muslim community to oppose them.
The EDL hoped to protest outside Dewsbury Town Hall, but a UAF-led campaign forced the Labour council and the police to change plans, putting EDL supporters in a pen.
Statements circulated by UAF from people like Paul Holmes, secretary of Kirklees Unison, helped reinforce the message that the EDL weren’t welcome.
Protesters staged a demonstration to defence Maidenhead Mosque in Windsor last Saturday as the EDL marched in the town centre. Some 100 local UAF members, Muslims and residents to defend the mosque.
