Teachers at Kenton School in Newcastle were set to strike three times in seven days over plans to turn the school into an academy.
The 200 NUT, NASUWT and ATL members voted for strikes.
They will walk out on Thursday of this week and then Tuesday and Thursday of next week.
The unions say the plans will mean the loss of any democratic control as well as worse pay and longer hours.
