Postal workers in Cheshire are taking a stand against their bullying bosses. The workers are to “do the job safely” this Friday in protest at disciplinary measures being used to get rid of workers.
“We’re dealing with bullying and harassment in every delivery office,” one union rep told Socialist Worker. “We tell our members—watch your backs. They’re trying to get rid of people by any means necessary.”
As Socialist Worker has previously reported, a suspiciously large number of postal workers have recently found themselves on charges that could see them sacked. Previously they might have expected only a warning.
“People are struggling to do their rounds,” the union rep added. “After the national deal [between Royal Mail and the CWU union] in 2010, the system we’ve been left with can barely cope.”
