Some 550 TV licensing workers struck on Monday of this week at Capita in Bristol and Darwen, Lancashire.

The workers, members of the Communication Workers’ Union (CWU), rejected a 2.6 percent pay offer just after finishing a two year pay freeze.

They voted by 77 percent for action on a 66 percent turnout.

Capita profits were up 7 percent for 2011, and board members’ bonuses went up by 23 percent in 2010.

CWU assistant secretary Andy Furey told the lively picket line in Bristol, “We’ve shown the company that we’re not giving up.”

This followed a mass meeting at the Capita gates the previous week.
