Hundreds of students demonstrated against poverty and inflation in eastern Sudan on Sunday and Monday of this week.
Students at the University of Kassala held rallies demanding the dismissal of the chancellor. Police had fired tear gas at a protest the previous day.
Twenty students were injured, six of them seriously. The protests are now in their third week.
Students chanted “People are hungry” and “People want the overthrow of the government”.
Kassala is in the underdeveloped east of Sudan. High food prices have pushed inflation to over 21 percent.
