Former Ucatt union general secretary Alan Ritchie intends to mount a High Court injunction to halt the union’s current leadership ballot.
Ritchie was banned from re-running for the leadership by the union last month. He has also issued a “derivative claim” requesting that the union pick up the costs of the planned injunction.
In a separate development, the Certification Office for trade unions confirmed that it has received a formal complaint from Mick Dooley, who was also banned by Ucatt from running as general secretary.
