Tory health secretary Andrew Lansley has been slapped in the face by leading medical publications over his attacks on the NHS.
The British Medical Journal, Health Service Journal and Nursing Times carried a joint editorial condemning Lansley’s plans as “damaging” and an “unholy mess”.
It goes on to say that the NHS is “far too important to be left at the mercy of ideological and incompetent intervention”. It adds “we must make sure that nothing like this ever happens again”.
Lansley is expected to propose some 200 amendments to his widely hated health and social care bill so he can push it through parliament.
