Over 50 South Yorkshire firefighters protested outside the fire authority meeting in Barnsley on Monday of this week.
The FBU union members were protesting against planned cuts of £10 million.
This means 140 fire service jobs are at risk—and smaller fire stations such as Royston in Barnsley.
The protest was supported by delegations from the GMB and UCU unions.
John Gilliver, South Yorkshire FBU brigade secretary, said, “These cuts clearly increase the risk to the public and firefighters.”
After the lobby the branch held a special union meeting on pensions.
