The EIS Scottish teachers’ union has announced election results for its national executive committee (NEC) and officer positions.
Socialist candidate Andrew Fullwood won a fantastic 46 percent of the vote for vice president.
Some 4,481 EIS members voted for Andrew while the establishment candidate narrowly won with 5,265.
Andrew stood on a clear programme of strikes to defeat the government’s pensions attacks.
The result shows that there is a significant number of people who want to fight.
There are also a significant number on the union’s NEC who are willing to lead a fight.
