Morale at picket lines was high at Sunderland College on Thursday of last week, as lecturers struck against pay cuts and redundancies.
There were five well-attended picket lines. Delegations of other UCU branches in the region came to give solidarity.
One lecturer said, “We didn’t cause the crisis so why do we have to pay? The bankers are to blame but haven’t paid a penny back.”
