Teachers at Alperton Community School in Brent, west London, struck on Thursday of last week against plans to turn the school into a privatised academy.
Jean Roberts, joint secretary of Brent NUT, told Socialist Worker, “The strike was very successful.
“Very few staff went in. It’s great that teachers stood up to privatisation.
“We aren’t fools—we know that education secretary Michael Gove wants firms to run schools for profit. That would be a complete disaster.”
The union planned talks with management and could call further action.
