Trade unions, transport campaigners and passenger groups are holding a day of action today, Tuesday, to protest against increases in rail fares.
Greedy rail companies are set to hike fares by around 6 percent next January. Transport unions including the RMT and TSSA led protests at up to 40 stations around the country.
TSSA warned that workers travelling into London will have to pay over £100 a week in fares. The government given private rail operators permission to raise fares by inflation plus 3 percentage points, and in some cases even higher.
