Over 100 members of the Usdaw union at the Sainsbury’s distribution centre in Sherburn in Elmet, Leeds, have defected to the Unite union.
This follows a number of recent incidents where Usdaw ignored members’ concerns. Some 80 workers, who work for the Wincanton company, signed a vote of no confidence in Usdaw.
Usdaw has been the recognised union at the huge Sainsbury’s distribution centre since the site opened almost five years ago. But it signed away some workers’ rights in return for union recognition.
