The Tories have admitted that they have broken a promise to increase spending on schools.
A Department for Education paper said the government’s promise to increase the front-line schools budget in real terms “is not, in fact, what is happening”.
Instead, “Schools are subject to a real-terms cut in their funding because the rate of inflation is currently higher than forecast.”
The paper was published in October.
Yet in December Tory chancellor George Osborne claimed he was keeping the pledge.
School workers want action to defend education and to protect their pensions, pay and conditions.
Some NUT union members have called a lobby of their union’s national executive meeting on Thursday of next week.
London region NUT has also called a lobby of Michael Gove on Wednesday 13 March. Assemble from 5pm at the Cathedral Piazza, Victoria Street, Westminster.
